Blues go Green in Torry
As part of the Scottish Conservative Party's social action project initiative local Conservative members and supporters in South Aberdeen organised a 'bag it and bin it' morning in Torry. Despite the very poor weather, Aberdeen South Westminster Candidate Mark Jones led a determined band of helpers who cleared rubbish and litter from the banks of the River Dee.
Commenting Mark said;
"What should be a pleasant green oasis right in the heart of urban Aberdeen had become an eyesore with years of discarded rubbish and litter. Areas close to bus stops were very badly affected with large amounts of discarded bottles, cans, cigarette and crisp packets which had simply been dumped over the railings over the years! As the rubbish disappeared the bags filled up. We took the material to the local recycling point – and were able to recycle vitually all the material collected, allowing us to help the environment in another way as well"
Mark added,
"A small amount of effort made a huge difference to this area and shows what can
be done relatively easily to help preserve the environment. It really was a case of the blues going green in Torry!"
