Davena Rankin is the Scottish Conservative Westminster Candidate for Glasgow South.

Davena was educated at Knightswood Secondary School in Glasgow and the University of Sussex where she graduated with a BSc(Hons) in Medicinal Chemistry. She is currently registered as a part-time PhD student at Glasgow Caledonian University. Her research is looking at Technology Transfer in Scotland. She is a member of the Institute of Knowledge Transfer.

She is currently the Commercial Manager at Glasgow Caledonian University. Based within Research & Innovation Services Davena provides commercial support to staff to develop income generating products and services. This involves identifying opportunities for staff to transfer their research findings from the “lab” to the market place. Davena is currently the Vice Chair of AURIL (the leading European association for professionals involved in technology & knowledge transfer).  Davena is also the non-academic staff Governor at Glasgow Caledonian University.

Davena is an active member of UNISON where she is Branch Secretary of the GCU Branch and also sits on three National Committees and chairs the Scottish Women’s Committee.

Davena is a keen advocate and is passionate about standing up for those who are not able to make their voices heard. She has been involved in politics for 10 years and last year fought the Glasgow East By-election. She was a Director of an Autistic society for 6 years and is currently a Guider in Glasgow.
