Scottish Conservatives secured a stunning victory in the last local elections with the return of John Dougan as Conservative councillor for the Stranraer & North Rhins ward. The ward includes Portpatrick, Leswalt and Kirkcolm.
John is married to Liz, they have a young son and live in Stranraer. He works in the field of drugs and alcohol rehabilitation, and is also a student at the Crichton Campus.
John is Vice-Chairman of Dumfries & Galloway Council's Social Work Services Committee and has led active campaigns on services for elderly people as well as payments for kinship carers. As a member of the neighbourhood renewal project team, John is playing a key part in driving forward Stranraer town centre regeneration.
